The Station Paintings are a playful approach to considering patterns found in nature. Each imaginative
design was painted using scienti昀椀c vessels or instruments as stencils to mimic the shapes of microscopic
life forms that form the basis of marine ecosystems. "Stations" were created onboard the R/V Falkor
with seawater collected by CTD casts at sampling stations in oxygen minimum zones on the Microbial
Mysteries expedition.
Jessica Orfe sailed on R/V Falkor June 2018 on the Solving Microbial Mysteries expedition in the
Eastern Tropical North Paci昀椀c o昀昀 of Mexico.
