BEYOND THE FRAME
Re昀氀ecting on his visit to Shark Bay in Western Australia,
photographer Kirvan Baldassari remembers “it felt
completely surreal – the landscape looked like nothing
[he] had ever seen before, almost like another planet.”
He says that “the colors, textures, and patterns from
above” left him in awe, making it an experience he’ll
never forget. He adds that “seeing it with your own eyes is
something else”, adding that “no photo can truly capture
the scale, colors, and textures that make Shark Bay so
surreal. It’s a place that deserves to be seen, appreciated,
and protected.”
Shark Bay is located on Australia’s Indian Ocean coast, at
its most westerly point. It is a UNESCO World Heritage
Site, home to many threatened species of plants and animals including green turtles, dugongs and manta rays.
