Wildlife photographer Elisa Chan captured this shot in Vava’u, Tonga – a place
known for its warm, crystal-clear waters. For this photo, she says she wanted to
“capture the whale’s tail, or 昀氀uke, bathed in sunlight underwater”, adding that
“more than anatomy, the 昀氀uke symbolizes freedom, strength, and the ocean’s
magic.” After this encounter she surfaced, needing “a quiet moment to etch
every detail into memory, knowing this image would always take [her] back to
that wild, inspiring moment.”
