Australian photojournalist Brooke Pyke captured this shot on the Ningaloo
Reef in Western Australia. She lives nearby and feels fortunate that these big
gentle sharks visit the area between March and August each year. Brooke says
she has photographed hundreds of whale sharks in her time, but this encounter
was “something special”, as she had never seen a whale shark accompanied by
so many remora 昀椀sh (shark suckers). She recalls it was “quite a spectacle to see.”
