BEYOND THE FRAME
The photo was taken in the Valensole Plateau in Provence,
France, a region known for its beautiful lavender 昀椀elds.
Photographer Daniel Kordan remembers how “the
rolling hills of vibrant purple lavender stretch as far as
the eye can see”, adding that “the area is known for its
picturesque landscapes, especially during the summer
months when the lavender is in full bloom.”
Lavender is a plant native to countries around the
Mediterranean, cultivated for its fragrant essential oil.
Lavender 昀椀elds provide a rich habitat for pollinators,
especially bees. During the blooming season, the
abundance of nectar attracts various bee species,
contributing to the production of lavender honey and
supporting pollination in the region.
