WOW25 Festival to Engage Citizens During the UN Ocean Conference in Nice
Nice, France | 9313 June 2025
As the world gathers in Nice for the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference, NautilusThink - the not-for-profit
extension of Nautilus Magazine - is collaborating with UNESCO and the City of Nice to host WOW25 3 World
Oceans Week Festival, a five-day cultural celebration designed to engage the public to inspire global action for
ocean protection.
Organized in partnership with the Schmidt Ocean Institute and a global coalition of ocean partners, WOW25 will
take place from 9 to 13 June 2025 and will feature a dynamic programme of concerts, exhibitions, performances,
and public events. The festival aims to connect communities with the science and priorities of the UN Ocean
Conference through music, art, and storytelling.
The festival opens on Monday, 9 June, with the Ocean in Concert, a large-scale public concert at the Théâtre de
Verdure, renowned venue of the traditional Nice Jazz Festival. Open to all and ticketed by voluntary contribution
(pay what you want), the event will bring together international and local artists in a powerful artistic call to protect
our blue planet.
Following the evening inauguration on Monday, from Tuesday to Friday, WOW2025 will become the unofficial
evening hub for citizens and delegates of the UN Ocean Conference. Providing nightly musical gatherings from
18:00 to 22:00, WOW20259s UNOC After Hours will convert the Theatre de Verdure into an informal space
featuring live music, audiovisual installations, and immersive ocean experiences, offering delegates and the public a
relaxed setting to connect around the ocean.
Throughout the week, the Nautilus Village on the Promenade des Anglais will serve as the festival9s civic and
educational hub. Through interactive exhibits, scientific talks, and storytelling sessions, the Village will open up the
key themes of the UN Ocean Conference to the wider public. Activities will include family-friendly programming
and youth engagement initiatives to foster ocean literacy across generations.
In addition, the public space around the Village will be animated by environmental art installations and oceanthemed sculptures by REEFLINE, which is bringing to Nice a special
